How to Register
ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS AND CLASS STRUCTURE
- Children must be two by June 1, 2012 in order to attend ORNS in the fall of 2012. Children do not need to be potty-trained to enroll at ORNS.
- Private preschool classes are offered for children at least 27 months of age (7 children per class) and 3 and 4 years of age (10 children per class). Each classroom has one teacher.
- Private preschool/4K is offered for children 4 and 5 years of age. Each class has one teacher and up to 12 students.
- Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) Public 4K is offered for children 4 and 5 years of age in the MMSD and Middleton/Cross Plains Area School District and a ratio of 18 students to 2 teachers is maintained in each classroom.
- ORNS attempts to group children of similar age together in a classroom (ex: fall/winter birthdays and spring/summer birthdays) while maintaining an equal ratio of boys to girls.

We are able to create many different schedules by adding on Extended Care hours. If you need help figuring out how to create a schedule, please contact our executive director.
HOW ARE CHILDREN PLACED?
Priority is given to families in this order:
1. Current students - Forms available January 17, 2012
2. Siblings of current students and alumni - Forms available January 17, 2012
3. New families on Wait List - Forms available January 21, 2012
4. New families - Forms available January 21, 2012 at our Open House
Within each group, applications are numbered as they are received by the preschool. Applications turned in the earliest will receive priority over those turned in later. Also within each group, families registering for both preschool classes and extended care options receive priority. Requests for specific preschool class schedules, children's ages, boy-to-girl ratio, teacher recommendations and children’s individual needs are also taken into consideration.

3. New families on wait list - February 1, 2012
4. New families - February 15, 2012
Contracts will be issued on February 1 for current families, siblings, and alumni. Contracts will be sent to new families on February 15, 2012.
DOES ORNS HAVE EXTENDED CARE PROGRAMS?
Regardless if your schedule requires a few half days of preschool each week, a 4K class, or five full days, Orchard Ridge Nursery School will most likely be able to accommodate your needs. We are able to offer a variety of options including many ways to extend your child's day in a flexible manner to help meet the ever changing demands of today's families.
WHAT DO I NEED TO SUBMIT IN ORDER TO APPLY FOR EXTENDED CARE?

Extended care programs allow you to extend your child’s day before and/or after his or her preschool class. In order to receive priority status during placement, please submit these by the deadline listed. Extended care applications received after the deadlines will not influence placement. Please note that all children in extended care programs must be 3 years of age and potty-trained.
MAY I ARRANGE TO VISIT ORNS PRIOR TO SUBMITTING MY CHILD'S APPLICATION?
There are two ways to arrange a visit to ORNS - scheduling a tour and visiting during the Open House. To arrange a private tour, please contact Amy Fewel, Executive Director, at either ornschool@aol.com or 608.274.8407. The annual Open House provides a time to meet all of the teachers, current parents, and will give your child the chance to interactively explore the preschool's classrooms. This year our Open House will be on Saturday, January 21, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. We hope to see you there!

If you would like to have priority over other new families during registration at ORNS, apply to be on our Wait List. Fill out the following application and either drop it off at our school or mail it to us with the $20 fee.
